The Story of the Lost Package

This is the story of a lost package, I think. Or it might be the story of something else. I guess we will see. Let me start by sharing with you a piece of advise: never ever purchase online in advance too trip. That trip might never happen.

Earlier in August I was supposed to be in Iowa for business. We were taking a supplier on visit in advance of a major project I’m leading. I made I was traveling on a Monday and coming back Thursday. So, I made some online purchases in advance in to ensure that they all got by the day I had to come come back. The trip got cancelled the Friday previous to our departure. I called the hotel in advance to let them know the situation and they offered to keep my things until my trip was rescheduled, which to this day hasn’t happened.

The idea of having $1,000 USD worth of purchases sitting around miles away prevented me from being at ease. So, some weeks ago I decided to book a ticket to Chicago, where I was gonna rent a car to drive to Iowa and pick my things off. Little did I know the nightmare that getting those things in my hands was going to turn into and the lesson I will get out of the experience.
