I’m sure I’m not the only one who was looking forward to New Year’s: a fresh start; because let’s be honest, last year was definitely a challenging one. I think we are all aware that just crossing that New Year’s line doesn’t actually mean that this pandemic is suddenly going to be over; but I think that as any other fresh start, the new year brings us hope.
While New Years is the universal new beginning, there are other important fresh starts that life, in all its wisdom, puts in our path. Some are joyful ones, such as birthdays or anniversaries, some others are painful like death or breakups and then, there are some simple ones like new jobs or new places. Despite their different origins, they all bring their magic: the hope of new direction, the opportunity of a reset, the gift of a new perspective and the possibility of a change.
This year can only be better than last one. I’ve big expectations about it. As life starts to get closer to normal, I’m looking forward to first-times; like the first trip, the first get together, the first eat-out and all the firsts after a pandemic. I also have a short, but solid list of intentions for this year.
- Prioritize own well-being
- Be intentional about life
- Embrace vulnerability
- Practice conscious gratitude
- Actively foster curiosity
Why intentions instead of goals? I’d love to give you the answer, but I think you’ll benefit from doing your own research. I’ve specific actions that I’ve committed to within each intention. To keep things in balance I made sure each fell into one of areas of the wheel of life (also welcomed to Google it). While I blured some of them due to their private nature or because they involve someone other than me, I wanted to share them with you.
So, whether you do goal setting, establish resolutions or set intentions, I hope you have the courage of putting the past behind. I hope this New Years you have something to look forward. I hope that you enjoy the journey as much as the destination itself. I hope you endure setbacks and dare to start again. Let’s actively make the best out of this year. Remember, the best is yet to come!
